Second Opinions with Dr. Lang

At New Orleans Podiatry, patients often come to us when they need clarity, reassurance, or a deeper understanding of a diagnosis or treatment plan. With more than 30 years of surgical and clinical experience, Dr. Edward Lang offers thorough, unbiased second opinions for a wide range of foot and ankle conditions—combining traditional medical training with integrative, root-cause analysis.

What to Expect

Record Review

We ask that all medical records, imaging, reports, operative notes, and prior treatment summaries be sent in advance. This allows Dr. Lang to review your case thoroughly before your appointment.

Comprehensive Evaluation

During your visit—or via telehealth for out-of-state clients—Dr. Lang will:

  • Review your medical history, symptoms, and previous diagnoses
  • Evaluate prior X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, or CT reports
  • Identify gaps, missed diagnoses, or alternative explanations
  • Provide a detailed explanation of next steps

Important Clarifications

A second opinion is designed to give you clarity—not to replace your current provider.

  • Receiving a second opinion does not establish ongoing care or constitute a transition of care.
  • If you wish to become a patient after the second opinion, we will discuss the necessary steps.
  • If prior imaging is outdated, incomplete, or technically inadequate, Dr. Lang may recommend repeat X-rays or ultrasound. Proper diagnostics are essential for giving a meaningful second opinion.

Who Benefits Most from a Second Opinion?

  • Persistent or unexplained foot or ankle pain
  • Patients unsure about a recommended surgery
  • Conditions that have not improved with treatment
  • Conflicting diagnoses from multiple providers
  • Athletes or active individuals wanting the least-invasive path forward
  • Individuals seeking an integrative, whole-body perspective on their symptoms
